Boston

On the east coast, Boston is a Lincolnshire small port and town, north of London by approximately (160 km) 100 miles. Of the wider Boston government district, it is the town that is largest. Moving the produce of the district and the trade of the dock, Boston remained something of a railway hub well into the 20th century, plus the excursion trade to Skegness and similar places.

During the early part of the century, electricity came to Boston and electrical lighting was provided from 1924. Opened in 2005, the Haven Gallery was closed in a measure that was cost-cutting in 2010 by the Borough Council of Boston. In the band To Kill a King's EP My Crooked Saint, Boston is mentioned several times.

Outside Boston, on the Boardsides is the Princess Royal Arena. Nicknamed The Pilgrims, more senior Boston United plays in the National League North. Nicknamed The Poachers, Boston Town, the second club, plays in the United Counties Football League.

The Boston Barracudas raced in the British League Division Two, (the Premier League) and, with one member winning the League Individual Championship, in 1973 won the League and Knock-out Cup. On Rowley Road is Boston Grammar School, a selective school. On Spilsby Road is female counterpart, Boston High School.

Said to be the largest parish church in England, Boston's notable landmark is St Botolph's Church ("The Stump"), visible for miles around from the flat lands of Lincolnshire. When the dock on The Haven with its associated wharves were constructed, Boston again in 1884 became a significant port in fishing and trade. In the detective novels of Colin Watson, Boston is assumed to be the prototype for Flaxborough.

A community station called Endeavour Radio and the Boston Standard and the Boston Target include the weekly newspapers that Boston has. At the Princess Royal Arena is Boston Rugby Club. Opened in 1964 to provide A level courses for those not attending the two grammar schools, Boston College is a further education college.
